Why use a detailer?

Chances are you’ve used your hard earned cash to purchase your vehicle/watercraft/motorbike/caravan. Just like with anything we use regularly you’d like it to stay in the best condition possible. Depreciation of any asset you own is something you’d most likely want to avoid. Having a professional detailer thoroughly clean, enhance, protect and maintain your asset will not only save you money in the long run but also give you that feel good factor each time you use it, making it all the more enjoyable.

Ceramic coatings? What’s the go?

Ceramic coatings are fast replacing traditional wax for vehicles & boats. Longer- lasting results, durability and let’s face it, the end result can be a beautiful thing when applied correctly. For those considering it here’s a brief who, why and which to help when making your decision.

WHO is it for? If your vehicle or boat is frequently exposed to the elements, harmful UV rays , and rough terrain then a ceramic coating will protect the paintwork to keep its condition, provide extra shine & gloss preventing faded, sad looking paint.

WHY? In short you’ve probably worked hard to get this nice vehicle/boat and you want it to stay nice. If you find cleaning your vehicle a chore then the good news is using a ceramic layer makes for easy cleaning, hydrophobic properties repel water, dirt & grime. Protection from bat & bird poo is also a huge plus as these critters poop eats paint for breakfast. Upholstery & leathers can be protected too.

WHICH? Which coating to go for? We recommend doing your research on the best ceramic coatings on the market. Factors like the age & usage of the vehicle plus warranty on the product all come into play. Unfortunately dealership protection is often inferior & expensive so do research before you buy.

Many Detailers here on the Sunshine Coast offer high quality Ceramic packages. Here at Limitless, we’re proud authorised applicators of @alwaysdryaustralia which comes with a lifetime warranty on new vehicles. Please see our protection page for packages and pricing.

How can I look after the paintwork on my vehicle?

How can I look after the paintwork on my vehicle? A: Whilst we could say don’t lift a finger, we can take care of your paintwork! There are many simple DIY ways to preserve the exterior of your Vehicle keeping it in tip top condition. Here goes:

● Regular cleaning- Yep, sorry but when dirt, dust or grime is left on the surface it can cause uneven discolouration in the long run and immediately detracts from your cars appearance. Here on The Sunny coast most vehicles are up against salt water, dust, UV rays, road grime, extreme heat and the worst one….bat poo! Give your vehicle when possible a weekly bath using a PH neutral shampoo to gently lift dirt then dry with a quality deep pile drying cloth for the best results.

● Paint restoration – If you’re noticing blemishes, light scratches, swirl marks or holograms in your paintwork do not fear! With the right technique and products used a machine polish can work miracles. Damaging mistakes can be made when trying this yourself without training but if you do give it a go be sure to use quality products, the correct cutting compound, polishing pads and techniques a long with doing some research and a bucket of patience.

● Paint Protection – Please see our low down on ceramic coatings, the benefits, and why we swear by it. Wax may be old school but it still does a great job at protecting your paintwork when using a quality product, applied correctly, and consistently on 3-month bases. We prefer a ceramic coating for its performance and durability, ideal for those who don’t have time to wax and want that reassurance of protection.

● Avoid harmful elements where possible – We’ve all seen those cars which were once a vibrant red now a faded dull pink? UV rays are not only harmful to us but also to the paintwork of your vehicle. Where possible parking undercover will avoid some of those harsh UV rays smashing down on your prize possession. Alternatively, apply sunscreen to the exterior….no, no don’t. Using a ceramic coating is a little like sunscreen for cars. Also whilst it’s one of the best feelings in the world (in our opinion), Driving your 4WD ‘Up the beach’ means your entire vehicle has been drenched in saltwater, saltwater causes corrosion so be sure to thoroughly clean the entire exposed parts to prevent rust or oxidation. Underbody and electrical rust- proofing is a good way to go for the adventurous soul.
